#SaveDCPSLibrarians

In Mayor Bowser's proposed FY2022 budget, 37 schools across the District do not have a full-time librarian. 17 schools, or 46% of schools without a full-time librarian, are in Wards 7 & 8. 43% of all schools in Ward 7 & 8 will not have a full-time librarian.

Investing in librarians is a critical to closing the large and growing achievement gaps that plague our city. Research is clear -- when schools have high-quality library programs and librarians who share their expertise with the entire school community, student achievement gets a boost.

Join us in asking the DC Council to amend the DC Public Schools budget to redirect funds from Central Office to ensure that there is a full-time licensed library media specialist in every DCPS school.
